Parents

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Hello!  I am hoping that this website will help keep the communication lines open throughout the semester.  This class is designed for student success!  For starters, your student always knows in advance what is happening week by week in health class.  At the beginning of each week, each student is responsible for copying the “Due this Week” list on the white board in the classroom.  This is recorded on their “Due this Week” sheet which is found in the ‘Introduction’ section in their health binder.  This sheet will stay in their binder the entire semester.  You can also check this list on this website under the “Due This Week” link at the top of the home page.

Each student is required to have a binder just for health.  If a student is sharing a binder, they must create a ‘Health’ section.  Upon completion of all five units, there will be a bindercheck.  Students are given a detailed printout of everything that must be in their health binder.  Binderchecks are always worth a significant amount of points.  Students will usually have in class time to organize binders and ask questions before turning them in to be graded.  In addition, there is a ‘master’ binder that students can refer to at any time during the semester to ensure they have their own binder organized.  Lastly, I am always available outside of class to help any student that needs additional help organizing their binder.

I encourage you to periodically check your student’s progress on Powerschool and feel free to send any questions or comments my way.  A few things you should know about my grading in Powerschool, if you see a zero entered as a grade, your student did not turn in the assignment.  I do not take late work without a late work pass.  Late work passes can only be used within 3 days after the original due date.  If you see parentheses, I have not yet entered a grade but the assignment has been posted.  The parentheses do not have any effect on your student’s overall grade.  I will update grades at least once every two weeks.  Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions at any time.

I’m looking forward to another eventful semester!

Sincerely,

Cherise Wabinga
